Prakriti & Dosha Assessment in Dubai
An in-person Ayurveda consultation to find your dosha, with a BAMS doctor in Jumeirah 1
A Prakriti assessment is an Ayurvedic consultation that finds your natural constitution (Prakriti) and your current imbalance (Vikriti) of the three doshas: Vata, Pitta and Kapha. At RamaCare Polyclinic in Jumeirah 1, Dr. Shamna Keloth Meethal (BAMS) uses pulse diagnosis (Nadi Pariksha), tongue and eye examination and a detailed history. It takes 45–60 minutes, starts from AED 200, and ends with advice or a written plan based on your needs.

A Prakriti assessment is an Ayurvedic consultation and does not replace medical tests or diagnosis. If a medical concern is found, we refer you to our general physician. Provided at a DHA-licensed polyclinic (licence 2036418).
Understanding Prakriti, Vikriti and Your Dosha
What Is a Prakriti Assessment?
A Prakriti assessment is the first Ayurvedic consultation. It identifies two things:
- •Prakriti: your natural constitution, the Vata, Pitta and Kapha balance you were born with
- •Vikriti: your current imbalance, shaped by stress, diet, climate and routine
- •Your Agni (digestive strength) and signs of Ama (undigested toxins)
- •What this means for your diet, daily routine and any therapies
How Dr. Shamna Assesses Your Dosha
Nadi Pariksha (Pulse Diagnosis)
- •The pulse is read at the wrist with three fingers
- •Used to assess Vata, Pitta and Kapha
- •Gentle and non-invasive
Tongue and Eye Examination
- •Tongue coating and colour (Jihva)
- •Eyes (Drik), skin (Sparsha) and voice (Shabda)
- •Part of the classical eight-fold examination
Body Build and History
- •Body frame (Akriti)
- •Digestion, appetite, stools and urine
- •Sleep, stress, work pattern and climate
Your Results Explained
- •Your dominant dosha or doshas
- •Your current imbalance
- •Diet, routine and therapy advice; a written plan when needed

- •Find out their dosha and Ayurvedic body type

Quick Facts
Signs Your Doshas May Be Out of Balance
In Ayurveda, many everyday complaints are linked to an imbalance of Vata, Pitta or Kapha. These signs are common reasons people book an assessment. They can also have medical causes, so persistent symptoms should be checked by a doctor.
Vata Imbalance
Dry skin, bloating, constipation, light sleep, worry and feeling cold. Often aggravated by air-conditioning, travel and irregular routines.
Pitta Imbalance
Acidity, heartburn, skin redness or rashes, irritability, feeling hot and early greying. Often aggravated by Dubai heat, spicy food and skipped meals.
Kapha Imbalance
Heaviness, slow digestion, congestion, low motivation and weight gain. Often aggravated by long sitting hours, heavy food and daytime sleep.
Weak Digestion (Agni) and Ama
Ayurveda links a weak digestive fire to undigested residue (Ama), felt as tiredness, a coated tongue and heaviness after meals.
Stress and Poor Sleep
Long working hours and irregular sleep are common in Dubai and, in Ayurveda, disturb Vata first.
Hormonal Changes
Thyroid, blood sugar and other hormonal problems need medical testing. Ayurvedic advice can be added alongside; our general physician is in the same building.
What Happens at Your Prakriti Assessment
At RamaCare Polyclinic in Jumeirah 1, Dr. Shamna Keloth Meethal (BAMS) assesses your constitution and current imbalance through a detailed history, pulse diagnosis (Nadi Pariksha) and examination of the tongue, eyes, skin and body build, then explains what it means for your diet, routine and any therapies.

We begin with an in-depth consultation to evaluate medical history, current symptoms, lifestyle patterns, and previous treatments.

The Three Doshas: Vata, Pitta and Kapha
Ayurveda describes three doshas, or functional energies, known together as tridosha: vata pitta kapha. Everyone has all three; your Prakriti is the mix you were born with.
| Vata (air and space) | Governs movement: breathing, circulation, nerves. In balance: creative and energetic. Out of balance: dryness, bloating, poor sleep, worry. Dubai triggers: air-conditioning, travel, irregular routines. |
|---|---|
| Pitta (fire and water) | Governs digestion and metabolism. In balance: focused, strong appetite. Out of balance: acidity, skin redness, irritability, early greying. Dubai triggers: summer heat, spicy food, skipped meals. |
| Kapha (earth and water) | Governs structure and stability. In balance: calm, steady, strong. Out of balance: heaviness, slow digestion, congestion, weight gain. Dubai triggers: long sitting hours, heavy food, daytime sleep. |
Dosha Test: What Is My Dosha?
Answer 12 quick questions about how you usually are, not how you feel today. This Ayurvedic body type test gives a first idea of your dosha (Vata, Pitta or Kapha). It is not a diagnosis: your Prakriti is confirmed at an in-person assessment with our BAMS doctor.
Ashtavidha Pariksha: The Eight-Fold Ayurvedic Examination
Classical Ayurveda assesses a patient in eight ways. At your consultation, Dr. Shamna uses them as follows:
| Nadi (pulse) | Pulse diagnosis at the wrist to assess Vata, Pitta and Kapha |
|---|---|
| Jihva (tongue) | Tongue colour and coating, linked to digestion and Ama |
| Drik (eyes) | Colour and clarity of the eyes |
| Sparsha (touch) | Skin temperature and texture |
| Shabda (voice) | Voice and speech |
| Akriti (build) | Body frame and build |
| Mala (stools) | Questions about bowel habits |
| Mutra (urine) | Questions about urine and fluid intake |
